Testimonials

I have known NBJK (www.nbjk.org) since 2005, when I was at Sightsavers, an international NGO working to prevent avoidable blindness and promote a disability-inclusive world in over 30 countries.

After joining Mission for Vision (www.missionforvision.org.in), my current organisation, we started a partnership with NBJK towards the establishment of a new eye hospital in Gaya, Bihar state. During this period, our study of NBJK’s competence in terms of the impact of its eye health services on the local communities, visual outcomes post eye surgery and their management systems were found to be encouraging.

NBJK is amongst the largest developmental organisations in Eastern India and is highly respected by the community, local governments, national and international NGOs. Their committed founders and strong team of 700+ qualified, experienced and committed staff have made an immense impact in the region.

Elizabeth Kurian, Chief Executive Officer, Mission for Vision, India

It was clear from the visit to Jharkhand, where the Foundation team was accompanied by NBJK and Carers Worldwide staff, that NBJK is a well-respected organisation within the state, involved and integrated at many levels within state and community level institutions. Their vision is for a holistic improvement of people’s lives, touching every level of the community ‘system’ towards self-determination and resilience for the people in Jharkhand. NBJK staff showed a deep understanding of the issues facing the communities and a willingness to innovate and try new approaches to solving socio economic challenges.

Comfort Osilaja, Grants Manager, Commonwealth Foundation, UK

Wen Giving Foundation’s partnership with Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) began with the construction of the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Eye Hospital in Gaya, Bihar State.

NBJK’s devoted founders and committed team have a big vision and work tirelessly to provide accessible eye health service to disadvantaged communities who would otherwise needlessly suffer without their sight.

We believe that NBJK’s efforts to educate and empower those in need will have a lasting impact on our shared goal of curing avoidable blindness.

Mei Wen, Founder, Wen Giving Foundation, Australia

As part of our partnership, i have made numerous visits to the NBJK offices and to observe their work in the field. I have found them always to be transparent, professional and honest in their dealings.

Their in-depth knowledge of the local communities and their strong relationships with local, district, sate level stakeholders (including government and the NGO sector) ensure that their work is effective and appropriate, has large scale impact and promotes self-reliance and sustainability of project outcomes amongst beneficiaries. Staff are always innovative and open to new ideas and training.

Anil Patil, Founder and Executive Director, Carers Worldwide, UK

I have known the founders of Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra {NBJK) since 1969, i.e. from before they even started their community work in Bihar and Jharkhand. The UK charity, Action Village India of which I am a founder member has supported different NBJK projects since 1995 including girls’ education, strengthening grassroots groups and people with disabilities.

Throughout that long relationship whilst managing projects I have NBJK’s coordination office and field area many times. The managers and directors and virtually all of the staff are local people. This enables them to pinpoint crucial local issues and people/communities who need support and devise ways of delivering projects with a good chance of success.

Ivan Nutbrown, Founder/Advisor, Action Village India, UK

NBJK has been partner to Plan India since over 10 years. NBJK has been working with Plan India in several projects related to addressing rights of the children and have found sincere, committed and active. With Plan India support NBJK has been implementing various projects – Child Centered Community Development Program, SAMBHAV-Project on empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Boys with focus on reducing Child Marriage, School WASH Program and TOM Shoes distribution program.

NBJK has been a sincere, honest and credible organization working for the marginalized community with commitment and dedication, without discriminating caste, creed and religion.  The founder members of the organization has been committed to the development of the underprivileged community.

Anup Hore, State Manager, Plan India

The members from Australia and as well from India CBM have visited NBJK many times and have always found NBJK prompt and supportive. The field work of NBJK is strong. They also have good administrative and financial management with child protection policy, financial rule, HR Policy etc. Reports are given on time and results we found are as desired.

As NBJK has good financial and monitoring systems we have also made them the lead in a ‘cluster project’ where funds to another two voluntary organizations are routed through NBJK for monitoring and implementation.
