07 January 2021, Patratu (Ramgarh): under Corporate Social Responsibility of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), NBJK run LokNayak JayPrakash Eye Hospital has organized Eye Screening Camp at local Sai Nursing Home and launched Cataract Eradication Campaign in the area. The program was graced by senior officials from NBJK & BHEL.
On this occasion, Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK) introduced about various programs by NBJK, mentioned its eye health care initiative for common people and appreciated BHEL for the support. Mr. S. Gangopadhyay (GM, BHEL) said about the construction work they are assigned for at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited and briefed upon BHEL’s CSR activities. He praised LNJPEH for the target of 2000 cataract surgeries under the campaign and offered all backings. Mr. A. K. Acharya (CFO, PVUN Ltd.) appealed the public came in the camp to follow doctor’s instructions and to disseminate the message of this free eye care service among more people. Mr. Sunil Kodape (Construction Manager, BHEL) said that blindness rate in Jharkhand is 2.13% as higher than India’s 1.99% and keeping view of poverty in the state, we welcome this campaign of eye check up & treatment absolutely free of cost. Mr. P. K. Vishwas (Head-HR, BHEL) was hopeful for benefit to local people through this eye care intervention. Mr. Nirbhay Singh (CO, Patratu) assured for all support to the campaign and said that the target of 2000 cataract surgeries seems less than the magnitude of the problem as most of the persons above 50 years of age are prone to cataract.
Mr. Anand Abhinav (Program Director, NBJK) has focused upon the need of people’s awareness on eye health care and thanked to the officials from BHEL and Dr. Sanjay Singh (Director, Sai Nursing Home) for their support. Also Mr. Gandharv Gaurav (Program Manager, NBJK), Mr. Karuna Nidhi (DPM, LNJPEH) & other members of Team LNJPEH were present in the event.
Its noteworthy that LNJP eye hospital has set the targets of 2000 cataract surgeries and 100 eye screening camps across all 48 panchayats of Patratu within a year. In today’s camp, total 175 persons turned up for their eye check up, 45 have been identified with cataract and referred to the base hospital for surgery.
