18-19 November 2022, Hazaribagh: Under Inclusive Eye Health Program by NBJK with support of Sightsavers, training of community health volunteers on Disability Inclusion & Gender Mainstreaming held at NBJK coordination office.
Mrs. Babita Sinha, the resource person from CREA Foundation has focused upon the efforts to empower eye patients, PwDs suffering from cataract, especially women with disabilities. Within the discussion over the problems of persons & women with disabilities and their inadmissibility in socio-economic mainstream, she said that our health services must be more inclusive for disability, disabled women and their eye care needs to prevent them from being marginalized. On this occasion, Kirti Rawat, (DPM, Sightsavers) informed about the facilities being provided by IEHP.
A total of 75 women including members of Anganwadi workers, JSLPS cadre, self-help and carers groups participated in the training.
On 19th, training-cum-sensitization workshop for community health volunteers & govt. staffs was organized at Hotel Snow Valley. Mrs. Babita Sinha highlighted the special need of eye health services in context of PwDs and women. She emphasized the role of health workers and service providers in ensuring access of disabled, women to the available system for eye protection, prevention of cataract and proper treatment from the point of view of community-based rehabilitation.
Mr. Kirti Rawat updated about eye health facilities and special concessions for the disabled persons under Inclusive Eye Health program.
Dr. Umesh Prasad (Ophthalmologist, Sadar Hospital), support staffs, Sahiya didis of Sadar block, members of OPDs, and workers of Divya Jyoti Sansthan have participated in the event.
